STUDIO J DANCE TEAMS

Expert Training:  Dancers receive focused instruction in technique, choreography, and performance skills across multiple disciplines.

We expect dancers and parents to help create a respectful, uplifting environment that supports every team member.
 

Meaningful Performance Opportunities:  Team members participate in competitions, conventions, and select community performances throughout the season.
 

Growth Through Commitment: Consistency, accountability, and strong work ethic help dancers build confidence both on and off the stage.
 

Overview

The Studio J competition season runs from January through June and requires full commitment from both dancers and families.

​What’s Included

  •     4-5 competition/conventions 

  •     Team choreography classes

  •     Required technique training thorughout the season

  •     Choreography camps in July, August, and September

  •     Possible community performances throughout the year

 

Mandatory Summer Technique Classes

  •  Juniors, Teens, Seniors: 20 classes

  • Minis: 10 classes

All dancers are expected to stay committed to their class schedule, work hard in rehearsals, and apply corrections consistently.

Technique Requirements during regular season  

​

Junior, Teen & Senior Dancers

  •     2 Ballet classes

  •     1 Jazz class

  •     1 Jumps, Leaps & Turns class

  •     Corresponding technique classes for any additional team disciplines

  •     Team choreography classes   
     

Mini Team Dancers
•    1 Ballet class
•    1 Jazz class
•    Corresponding technique classes for any additional team disciplines
•    Team choreography class

Expectations
 

 
Attendance Matters
Strong attendance is essential to a successful team season. Every class and rehearsal supports both individual progress and the growth of the full team.

 

Attendance Expectations

  •     Absences must be communicated at least 24 hours in advance by email to Jenn or the office.

  •     Missed choreography must be learned before returning to the next class.

  •     More than 5 unexcused absences in any team or required technique class may result in sitting  out a competition or removal from the team

 
Competition Expectations
Dance Team members are expected to represent Studio J with professionalism, preparation, and strong sportsmanship at every event.

Dancer Requirements

​

  • Team warm-up jackets are required at competitions

  • Team uniforms must be worn for Studio J events and performances

  • Competition schedules are set by the competition organizers

  • Dancers may be required to purchase approved makeup, accessories, shoes, and jewelry

  • Costumes may require professional alterations before the first performance

Team Culture & Code of Conduct

 

Studio J Dance Team members are expected to be respectful, hardworking, and supportive of one another. We do not tolerate gossip, poor sportsmanship, bullying, or disrespectful behavior from dancers or parents.

Communication


We value clear and timely communication with all Dance Team families.  Most studio updates, reminders, and team information are shared (parents should check both regularly throughout the season to stay informed) through:

Important Guidelines

Dynamic Dance Duo

PICK YOUR FLAVOR

Dancers that have been a team member for 3 years or more may audition for a Solo, Duet, or Trio. They will be chosen based off of age, technique level, performance quality and previous years' dedication to the team.

Social Media & Photo Policy
Studio J dancers are expected to represent the studio professionally both in person and online. Bullying, harassment, or inappropriate online behavior involving students, parents, or staff will not be tolerated.


Please note that photos and videos taken during classes, competitions, performances, or studio events may be used for Studio J marketing and social media.
